Physics and prom and Penelope

I read some books! Yay! *gold star*

1) Started A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking. Haven't yet finished, but it's very good - accessible, but still makes you think. Though, reconciling Hawking's rather-famous American computer voice with his very, very British writing is a task.

2) The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things. As I said to some friends, YA covers are getting more and more ridiculous. Exhibit A. The taglines are getting more and more ridiculous. Exhibit B. The plots remain as ridiculously dramatic as ever (Everything is terrible! Everything is wonderful! Everything is terrible again! But now it's prom and life is beautiful because we are teenagers and in love.) And yet, sometimes that's what you need to distract you from real life.

3) The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. The anti-silly. Non-ridiculous cover. Retelling of Penelope of Oddysey fame's story. Harsh and troubling, but well crafted. Give it a go if you, like me, enjoy retold myths.

Aaaaand, out.
