Book review: From Here to Eternity

They say don't judge a book by its cover, but this book's cover is awesome. The turquoise parts sort of glow at you in low light.

See? It's great.

The content is also pretty great; I actually liked it better than Doughty's first book. I liked learning about different funeral practices from around the world, though the one that struck me most was the open-air pyre in Colorado. "The sign [reading PYRE] was handmade by a local potato farmer (also the coroner)..." I plan to be buried in a shroud, but if for some reason that can't happen: take me to the potato-farmer pyre sign.

From Here to Eternity is a quick read, but has enough meat to it that it doesn't feel frivolous or light. Solid recommend.
